Like many of their studio albums, Minimum-Maximum was released in two different language versions: the band's native German, and English for the international market, though of the 23 tracks on the album, only the recordings of "The Model", "Radioactivity", "Trans Europe Express"/"Metal on Metal", "Computer World", "Pocket Calculator" and "The Robots" are actually different between the releases. The album title, an excerpt from the lyrics of the song "Elektro-Kardiogramm" (which only exists in an English-language version), is the same for both German and English versions.

Mensch, released in 2002, is the 20th music release by prominent German rock/pop artist Herbert Grönemeyer. Mensch (Human) is Grönemeyer’s 11th full-length album of original compositions. Herbert Grönemeyer recorded the songs after a long hiatus, during which he mourned the deaths of his wife and brother, both of whom passed away within the same week. As a result, the album features some of his most emotional songwriting to date, as well as a marketable mix of ballads and German rock. The album is almost entirely in German language. Mensch was a huge success in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and sold nearly 4 million copies, making it the best-selling German-language record of all time, also being certified with 21 x Gold in Germany.

One of Haydn’s last major works, Die Jahreszeiten depicts the yearly cycle of life in the countryside through the eyes of three peasants, providing us with music of thrilling vitality and creativity.

Richard Strauss' choral works are seldom performed, not least because of the enormous demands they place on the singers. “What he called for in terms of tessitura and breath technique in his Deutsche Motette went far beyond the normal vocal possibilities”, wrote Strauss' biographer Ernst Krause. But the pieces are also enchantingly beautiful, a reason in itself to devote an entire concert programme to this composer and then to record it.

Swedish soprano Miah Persson, on her first solo disc with orchestra, has collected a number of Mozartian gems (including Exsultate, jubilate – actually composed for Venanzio Rauzzini, the star castrato of the Teatro Regio Ducale in Milan.) Purity, sweetness and impeccable grace are words that have been used by reviewers to describe Miah Persson’s voice, and with such qualities it is no wonder that her reputation as a Mozart singer is growing.

Helium Vola is a German "Electro-Medieval" band founded in 2001 by instrumenentalist and composer Ernst Horn, who was also one of the founding members of Qntal. In the contract with Chrom Records Horn insisted on Helium Vola not being seen as a successor of Qntal nor being marketed as such. The band's name is Latin meaning "Fly, Helium" - a reference to the noble gas Helium which is used to fill balloons. The project's main vocalist is Sabine Lutzenberger, though the project has utilised a number of guest singers and musicians. Liod is the project's second album.

E Nomine (from the Latin In Nomine, "In The Name Of") is a German musical project, formed in 1999, by producers Christian Weller and Friedrich "Fritz" Graner. Their music, which they call monumental dance, is an unusual combination of trance, techno, and vocals which closely resemble Gregorian singing and chanting. Other vocals are performed by German voice actors such as long-time collaborators Christian Brückner and Rolf Schult. The primary languages in the songs are German and Latin.

Jochum's version of Carmina Burata leaves the rest behind. Jochum's baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in particular is the best baritone soloist for this work. The soprano, Gundula Janowitz, finds a quiet dignity for her contribution and this is finely done. The chorus are best when the music blazes, and the closing scene is moulded by Jochum with a wonderful control, almost Klemperian in its restrained power. The sound might be mid 1960's DG analogue but the performance leaves the rest way behind. Jochum's version was recorded in the presence of Carl Orff and is authorised by Carl Orff.

The full title of this disc is "The Essence of Viennese Music - opera, operetta and dance..". Rather cumbersome, but a fair description of the contents. It is played by an orchestra from Linz, Austria's third city, with a conductor (Peter Guth) who specialises in music of Johann Strauss II and a pair of excellent young soloists in soprano Edith Lienbacher and tenor Herbert Lippert. While its programme contains many of the expected Viennese lollipops, it goes beyond the merely predictable, and the producers have come up with a diverse and very entertaining concert.
