Thirty years ago, U96 released the album "Das Boot". The title track of the same name stayed at number 1 in the German single charts for months and was sold more than a million times. More hits like "Club Bizarre" or "Love Religion" followed. At the end of the 90s, U96 finally went their separate ways. In the mid-10s, Hayo Lewerenz and Ingo Hauss revived the project and released two albums, including one with ex-Kraftwerker Wolfgang Flür. Now, together with actor Claude-Oliver Rudolph, "20.000 Meilen Unter Dem Meer", based on Jules Verne's classic of the same name, is thematically going back to the roots in the underwater world. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of "Das Boot" there is also a FullDome Planetariums show in Hamburg, which offers a mixture of virtual underwater worlds passing by on LEDs, actors (including Claude-Oliver Rudolph) and live music.

After a relatively quick turnaround, German metal masters Rammstein added another highlight to their discography with eighth album Zeit. "Rock Me Amadeus" reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 1986, making him the only artist whose principal language was German to score a vocal number-one hit in the United States. According to his estate, he has sold 20 million albums and 40 million singles, which makes him the best-selling Austrian singer of all time.

Music lovers must have heard of the groundbreaking group Enigma that took the world by storm in 1990. The man credited for the landmark MCMXC a.D. album is none other than Michael Cretu, a Romanian-German musician, producer, song writer, and singer. Michael Cretu came into the music scene in 1976; he began his career as a solo musician, producing and writing albums for his wife, the German singer, Sandra. He also worked with artists through the 1980s, including Peter Cornelius, Hubert Kah, and Mike Oldfield. He formed Enigma in 1990 and released their debut album MCMXC a.D. that topped every imaginable chart thanks to its single, Sadeness Part I. Since then, Michael Cretu has released singles and albums on behalf of Enigma regularly, the last and eighth one being The Fall of a Rebel Angel in 2016. Michael Cretu has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.

With 'Skogarmaors' Obscurity forge their ninth studio album. At the first glance one might think there is nothing new in Obscurity, but with Skogarmaors there are several new elements within the band. Since their last album 'Streitmacht' Obscurity's team changed severely. The quintet from the Bergisch Land with Askar (guitars) and Isarn (drums) welcome new brothers in their ranks. Askar followed the footsteps of Cortez and Isarn took place for Draugr. Both, Askar and Isarn did a great job on the new album which is significantly influenced by them. But ingrained fans do not have to fear fundamental changes in style although there are new musical influences due to the line-up change. The 13 new songs on the upcoming album will benefit from those influences. Obscurity will stay a bastion in continuity and they only create music they do stand for. Continuity also takes its part in the place of production. The new album was recorded and produced in the holy halls of 4CN-Studios by Tim Schuldt. Stylistically the new songs reach from Death- to Viking Metal with Black Metal influences. In addition to that the bonus track is an experiment which differs slightly from the rest of the album/songs. Skogarmaors is not a concept album which is why there is such thematic diversity in the lyrics. Nordic mythology and contemporary social subjects take place in the sung words. In 2021 Obscurity hope to clink glasses with their numerous fans on the new album. The pandemic not only challenges artists but cut deeply in the daily life of all of us. Perhaps the music of the rooted in the soil musicians could heal the wounds a little.
