This German version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, with set and costumes by Ita Maximowna, dates from the year 1967. The Hamburg State Opera Choir and the Philharmonic State Orchestra of Hamburg are conducted by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt, who worked as the opera company’s first conductor between 1935 and 1942 as well as from 1945 to 1971 and was chief conductor of the North German Radio Orchestra, which he had personally been responsible for reorganizing in the post-war years. It may come as a surprise to learn that the singers, all of whom are now international stars, were drawn exclusively from the Hamburg State Opera ensemble - further proof of Rolf Liebermann’s skill in identifying up-and-coming musicians!

Lindemann, the now-defunct Rammstein side project named for frontman Till Lindemann and featuring multi-instrumentalist and producer Peter Tägtgren, are bringing their upcoming Live In Moscow film to the cinema.
Live In Moscow was shot on March 20 last year at Moscow’s VTB Arena, and is described by the distributors as "the great party before the global shutdown." The film will be shown in cinemas in the UK, USA, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Australia on March 20, with ongoing screenings taking place in Germany and Austria over the summer. Throughout the Grammy-Award winning band’s illustrious 40-year career, Germany never wavered in its loyal and fanatical support of Motörhead’s untouchably loud rock ‘n’ roll, with the band regularly selling out tour after tour. The programme also includes works by Dvořák, Stravinsky, Bernstein and Shostakovich and will create the perfect atmosphere for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

As before with the St. Matthew Passion, star director Peter Sellars succeeded in creating a staging which made the spiritual and dramatic content of the Passion story even more intensive. With his Salzburg production of 2003, young Norwegian director Stefan Herheim raised a storm of controversy that continued to crackle in 2006, when the production was revised for the Mozart 22 cycle. The controversy was largely due to the fact that Herheim transposed the events to the inner world of the human psyche.
